I really do believe you could have the most expensive, best makeup but the performance of it can really be altered by the brushes you use.
As I sat outside-in the last of the british summer – washing all my brushes, it occurred to me that I use the same brushes on a daily basis. So, here they are..My Holy grail makeup brushes:
This was one of the very first makeup brushes I ‘invested’ in. I have put it to the ultimate test; using it for blush, powder foundation, bronzer and I have finally settled on my favourite use..powder. I use this brush on a daily basis to apply my Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish powder. It evenly distributes the product and is big enough to cover my face quickly.
Again, I tried to use this brush for various things but powder was probably my least favourite. I quickly came to realise that this type of brush is the perfect sive and shape to bronze my round face! It evenly applies the product and makes any bronzer look flawless, like skin.
So I actually use this brush for it’s intended purpose…to apply blush! Like I mentioned earlier, I have a round face so to achieve the desired shape I want, I need my brushes to be a certain shape and size. I find that this perfectly flushes my cheeks and really is the most soft brush ever! I have also been known to use this brush to contour.
I was sucked in my Jaclyn Hill with this brush. Usually I love everything she recommends and this brush was no exception. Sticking to the trend, I don’t use this brush to highlight but to set my under eyes and kick off any baking powder. It’s soft enough that it doesn’t irritate the skin under my eyes and it’s the perfect size to apply product.
Again, not following my usual trend, I actually use this product for it’s purpose. I have tried to experiment with other contour brushes but this is one I always go back to. It was one of the very first makeup brushes I ever owned – like most of us. I have to admit, for the price, you just can’t beat a Real Techniques brush. They have served me well for years now and even outlasted some of my pricier brushes.
So, there you have it. My holy grail, can’t live without brushes. If you would like to see what my all time ride or die eye brushes are, let us know by liking this post and commenting below.
