Makeup Applicators – Ride or Die

Some say makeup application is all about the expensive products or having the most flawless base but I think it’s more so the applicators we use to apply the makeup. From the brushes we use, to the sponges we adore these all shape the way the makeup preforms. There is no point having a Chanel foundation if we have to use our fingers to apply it or receiving a Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palette but not having the brushes to blend. I’m not saying we have to go out and buy a Tom Ford foundation brush, I just feel that our applicators are sometimes underappreciated.

Below you’ll find some of my preferred options for applying my makeup – p.s some will be life changing..

ZOEVA brushes are perhaps my ultimate, can’t live without ones however I do have my favourites; The 127 cheek brush can be used for bronzer and blusher. It contours the face so well and always does the job. I never get any patches when applying bronzer, and it sheers out blusher to perfection. I love to use this brush to apply my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick – Nectar.

Definitely my ride or die eyeshadow brush. You can’t complete any eye look without a good blend and this brush does that effortlessly. Not only can it buff away those harsh edges, it is perfect to contour your nose! I love to apply Anastasia Beverly Hills Fawn contour powder to the tip of the brush to ”snatch” my nose.

This could not be a makeup applicator post without a mention of my beloved Beautyblender. This is certainly the be all and end all of applicators. It took me awhile to get used to it but after 2 happy years together, we can’t be separated. This sponge is life changing; you can apply almost your whole base using just one of these little gems. All the way from my primer to my setting powder even my highlight, I just could not be without it. Use the beautyblender with a translucent powder such as the cult favourite Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Overall, if I could provide you with any advice it would certainly be; invest in your beauty applicators and look at them as you would with your actual makeup products. I can guarantee a beautyblender will change your life.
